As it’s name implies, Rock Band 3 is the third in the highly successful series.  The Rock Band 3 soundtrack contains 83 tracks from the best bands from around the world.  This  includes bands which have never been featured in a music game.  Rock Band 3 also provides support for existing Rock Band tracks, should your gamer have the the two other games.  The song library is expected to be over 2000 titles by year end.  (These additional songs are available through the Rock Band store.)

Features of  Rock Band 3 include the ability to create, save and share set lists.  Song sorting has been improved to make it easier to find favorites, and hide songs you don’t care for.  The rating system will also come into play during random play mode, with selections that rank higher being played more frequently.

For the ultimate social gaming experience, Rock Band 3 introduces three-part vocal harmonies, and a keyboard! This game allows as many as seven players to play together.  There are also party modes available which allow for quick rock sessions with friends.  If your gamer is more serious about his or her music, there is a retooled Career Mode which sets your band on a path to conquer the world, chasing over 700 different goals and rewards.  This keeps players interested in the game long after each level has been played once, thereby resolving a problem many video games suffer from.  Your gamer can also select Pro Mode which requires a more accurate musical interaction.

Most people, especially those that like music, will want this video game. But for others, there are many other great gift ideas, including the newest Kingdom Hearts video game. Of course, there are plenty of people who would love to have both of these games.
