If you are looking for a great family game, why not consider an updated classic and buy Monopoly Revolution. Monopoly has been teaching families about capitalism and acquisition for decades. This new and updated version brings Monopoly into the 21st century.
One of the common complaints about the old format of the game was that one game could last forever. This isn’t the case with the new game. Changes have been introduced which will speed up game play.
So how does Monopoly Revolution differ from the old game? Monopoly Revolution was released to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the original game so you can expect some things to have remained the same, it has been hugely successful after all. But there are definite changes as well. The first thing you’ll notice is that the board has been redesigned. It is now round in shape, and divided into four zones. The Chance and Community Chest cards have been combined and a new twist has been added which inserts an extra dimension to the game. When you land on a zone space, you can either give everyone else in that Zone a Chance card or you can put a property up for auction by moving to the next unoccupied property. If all the properties have already been bought you can force a deal i.e. you may swap a property.
The prices of various properties have been increased to reflect current values and now when you land on a property you have the option to buy it or auction it. You can also swap properties. These combined changes are a huge time saver. The familiar silver pieces like the top hat and car have been replaced by plastic movers and are now in the shape of a hat, shoe, dog, car, iron and ship.
The biggest change you will probably notice is the fact that the cash has disappeared. Monopoly money is no more. Now you have a debit card, but you still need to keep track of your finances or you could find yourself bankrupt. The change from cash to card reflects the move away from currency in the real world. Now, there is a central hub that helps to keep track of your money. You swipe your debit card to pay for a transaction.
If you wind up in jail, you’ll get to hear the cell door clanging shut. This version of the game plays all kinds of sounds and music and requires 3 AA batteries which are not included. If you are looking for a fun family game, you can’t go wrong if you buy Monopoly Revolution.
