At 42 inches, the LG Infinia 42LV5400 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV, is a big beast but the picture quality remains tight.

LG Infinia 42LV5400 Features
First up is LG’s Smart TV feature, which makes surfing and accessing apps, movies and general content very easy. The 42 inch screen offers as good a picture quality as I’ve ever seen, crisp colors and well balanced. All viewing angles are good, even from the side.
The casing, construction quality and thinness are all very good. However, it is a heavy television set.
The remote is really well designed and thus is very easy, and indeed quite pleasant to use. A lot of people make light of the remote control, but it is an important aspect, especially with a Smart TV whereby you would expect to have it in your hand frequently.
LG have given all of its internet TVs an overhaul for 2011. They have morphed from a handful of apps to full-on app store, web surfing and integrated home network (all of which come under the catch-all phrase “Smart TV.” (In total LG announced a staggering 31 LCD-based TVs and 12 more Plasma-based TVs — of which more than half will feature LG’s new Smart TV internet TV platform.)
Returning to the TV in hand…..
The selection of apps is a good cross-section of video, catch-up and social networking, plus there is the added bonus of an app store to download more (called LG apps).
It’s easy to organize by favorites, or add them to your “homedashboard” for easy access. Moving around between apps and files is a snap thanks to the aforementioned well-designed remote.
Connecting the LG LV5400 LED SMART TV to your home network is simple with the included Wi-Fi adapter. Just plug it in and join your home network wirelessly. I found this to be a relatively straightforward experience.
LG has an App for your Smartphone too. In fact, you can even control the entire SMART TV experience from the convenience of your own Smartphone (Android or Apple iOS). This is a pretty cool function, and will likely become the norm with all TVs in the future, I presume.
LG Smart TV-enabled sets can integrate into a wireless home network by using a USB wireless broadband adaptor (included). All LG Smart TV models also support multi-media playback from a connected USB device including photos (JPEG), music (MP3) and video (DivX HD).
Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) technology allows users to access content stored on other DLNA-certified devices within the home, such as computers or an LG NAS device.
LG Infinia 42LV5400 Concerns
Somewhat better instructions are needed for the complete novice. This is more than your ordinary TV set, but this should not be an insurmountable problem as the TV is intuitive enough to see you through.

- “…I already knew what LG offered because of a past purchase at least I thought. Enter the lv5400 it’s above and beyond smart TV with the normal entertainment links, now add apps and you get a marvel of entertainment for the future…”
LG Infinia 42LV5400 Summary
This is a fun experience, but it is also a serious TV, and stands up as such. The LG Infinia 42LV5400 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED-LCD HDTV with Smart TV is also very well priced for what you get in terms of connectivity.
