Despicable Me is the story of an aging criminal mastermind, Gru, who is not as bad-to-the bone as he might aspire to be. Gru who was the world’s #1 criminal mastermind, suddenly finds himself in position #2 after Vector, a younger challenger to the throne, steals the Pyramid of Giza. Gru can’t have this and so he devises a plan. With his army of minions (who steal the show), and Dr. Nefario, Gru schemes to shrink the moon and then steal it. Unfortunately for Gru, money is tight. Suddenly he is need of Vector’s shrink ray. Enter the three orphaned young girls. In order to survive, they go door-to-door selling cookies. Gru winds up adopting these girls. He plans to use them to gain access to Vector’s fortress, but the best laid plans of mice and men… The girls disturb his ordered life. They touch things, they run around, they make noise. In short, they behave like the children they are. And unexpectedly, they wind up stealing Gru’s heart. Despicable Me is an enjoyable, entertaining film for children and adults alike.
