If you are looking to buy a gift for the nerd in your life, or for anyone who loves CBS’ top rated show, then you will wan to buy Big Bang Theory: Season 3. The Big Bang Theory is the surprise hit show which is entering it’s fourth season on network television. The show revolves around Leonard and Sheldon, two roommates who happen to be physicists at Cal Tech. But as brilliant as they are in the lab, they don’t have the people skills to successfully navigate real life. Leonard and Sheldon, along with their good friends Howard and Raj befriend Penny, the actress/waitress who lives across the hall. Hijinx ensue. This show has captivated audiences everywhere.
Reviewers on Amazon are particularly impressed with this show.
When I saw the premiere of this show, I laughed hysterically but thought, will it appeal to a broad audience? Clearly, it has. As time has gone on, the character development has been great, and the writing is consistently good. As a professional physicist, I am also intrigued by the accuracy of the science. I have recommended the show to many non-scientists, and most have become hooked. It is great to have the DVD with commercial-free episodes.
The Big Bang Theory” is the greatest television series since “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” My son (who IS a science nerd) told me how great this show was during the first season, and I have been hooked from the very first episode I watched. This show is, without a doubt, the highlight of my television viewing each week. All of the characters are so intelligently developed and the characters always stay true to themselves. Season three has been the best so far. In this age of mediocrity, it is a tribute to the writers how this program keeps its freshness and comedy alive. My favorite season 3 moment was Sheldon’s acceptance speech for a prestigious physics award. Taking a page from Raj’s playbook, Sheldon conquered his stagefright by becoming inebriated, albeit inadvertently. I loved his joke about the chicken and the mobius strip. It was a riot, even though I later had to have a friend explain to me why it was funny. Okay, so I never took calculus!!! Even if you don’t know the first thing about science or calculus or comic strip characters (a topic that is often visited), you will love “The Big Bang Theory” for the excellent acting from a great ensemble cast and its superior writing. Definitely a “must see”, and this DVD is a “must have.”
