This latest version of the MacBook Pro MD313LL/A 13.3-Inch laptop looks identical to its predecessor. That’s definitely not a bad thing. However, as I did with the previous model, I will certainly invest in a cover. I find the surface is a little easy to scratch.
The keyboard and track pad remain as they were — excellent quality. The folks at Apple are definitely to be commended for this. The multi touch function to the touch pad operates nearly flawlessly. Could I make it fail? I tried, unsuccessfully to confuse it. The backlit screen also forms standard in the Mackbook Pro range.
Power, power, power!
Apple claims to have punched as much as twice the speed into the new Apple MacBook Pro MD313LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop. I have the old one and comparing the side-by-side, I certainly believe them. The general performance really is super impressive. It is sharp and quick. Apple claims that this is the result of newer technological developments, namely Hyper-Threading and Turbo Boost. A lot of this is being put down to Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors/ Their HD 300 graphics card is now integrated into the processor, leading to improved performance.
Another development is that of the high-speed I/O port, which Apple calls Thunderbolt. No devices have this connection yet, but they are sure to be on the way. This has a transfer rate of 10 Gbps (both ways!!!). This used to be known as Light Peak. They claim that you will be able to use it to transfer an HD movie in just 30 seconds. Incredible!
Any Cons?
The battery is not replaceable. You have to go to Apple, but, hey, that way the warranty will remain intact!
The screen size has not changed. It is still 1280 x 800. (The MacBook Air 13-inch has a 1366 x 768), however the colors are extremely bright and clear, so all is forgiven.
Battery life, at five to six hours might be better, but then this machine is running serious new stuff under the hood.
Conclusion.
This is definitely another hit for Apple. This pocket rocket has serious performance ratings. Browsing is ultra fast, and multi tasking is no problem. Time will tell how Thunderbolt develops, but it has serious potential. The Apple MacBook Pro MD313LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop gets a very big “thumbs up”.
